A British couple have both broken their backs in a horror moped crash while on a dream holiday in Bali.
Joella Senior, 27, and her boyfriend Alex Hoyle, 29, have undergone extensive surgery and remain in critical condition in intensive care on the Indonesian island.
Both were both riding a Honda Vario scooter when they, another moped and a car crashed in Kerobokan, North Kuta in Bali earlier this month.
Alex, who also suffered head injuries, a fractured jaw and cheekbone, still has not woken up from his coma.
While Joella, a social media executive, who also broke both her arms, a collarbone and a cheekbone, has been able to communicate with her friends and family in Loughborough.
Desperate friends and family have launched a £100,000 fundraiser to help pay for medical treatment and the bring the pair home.

Close friend Georgie Steel said: ‘It is the worst shock ever. I am in utter disbelief. Me and my partner chatted to them that day and they were both have the best time on a holiday of a lifetime.
‘They’d gone out for two weeks in Bali on their first proper getaway together and this happened on their third day.’
Joella, a buying assistant and social media executive for leading UK home furnishing retailer Dunelm, is ‘showing real bravery and keeping as positive as she can,’ Georgie added.
The friend went on to say: ‘There is still a long way to go to get them back to the health of where they need to be. This is where we still need a massive push and rely on everyone’s love, support and if able donations.’

Georgie, who had set up a Just Giving page which has so far raised nearly £76,000, said: ‘The response has been so overwhelming. The generosity and kindness of others has been amazing, especially as we’re in a new cost of living pandemic.’
A post on the page, updated on June 19, also said that while Alex remains in the coma but he did squeeze his hand after his mother said his name multiple times.
‘Alex’s family can’t speak highly enough of the care he is receiving in hospital and what a great job the surgeons are doing. Whilst we have this positive [thing to say], he is still in critical condition in ICU and is requiring [a lot more] operations including repairs to serious injuries in his jaw, cheek bone and temporal bones,’ it said.
‘The family are also waiting on results from a CT scan where a head injury has been identified however the impact of these head injuries are still under investigation which is understandably causing huge anxiety for everyone.’
All of Joella’s operations to repair the fractures in both her lower arms, stabilise fractures to her vertebrae and plate her collarbone and cheekbone have gone ‘really well’.
The post added: ‘Joella’s road to recovery is still very long and she finds herself in a tremendous amount of pain post-surgery as her body tries to recover from the stress that the operations have put her under.’

Alex’s family said in a statement: ‘All family and friends are deeply touched by the generosity, love and best wishes they are receiving from friends, family and even complete strangers.
‘It is amazing to the family just how caring and generous people can be in these difficult economic times for us all.’
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed it was helping both families after the crash on the evening of June 12.
They said: ‘We are providing support to the families of two British nationals involved in a road accident in Bali and are in touch with the local authorities.’
