The troops arrived in Britain just after an announcement in January that the United kingdom would donate 14 of the armoured autos to Ukraine.

They will now return with the tanks – the to start with dedicated by any country to Ukraine – in time for a described spring counter-offensive by Kyiv.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace reported: ‘It is inspiring to witness the resolve of Ukrainian soldiers possessing finished their education on British Challenger 2 tanks on British soil.

‘They return to their homeland superior outfitted, but to no fewer threat. We will continue to do all we can to help Ukraine for as extensive as it normally takes.’
