A British backpacker has hit out at rude comments after she added a bikini picture to the ad she posted on Facebook in a bid to find a job in Australia.

Teddie Swan, 24, has been backpacking around the country for the past six weeks on a trip from London with her cousin.

Since arriving in Australia, she has been working at a bar in a small town in Western Australia but is looking to move on to continue her Australian adventure at Christmas.

Ms Swan took to the popular Facebook page Backpacker Jobs in Australia this week to post her search for work.

‘I will then be looking for work, ideally with accommodation, in the new year,’ she wrote.

‘I’m willing to travel anywhere for the right position and currently have my own car.’

Ms Swan said she had previous experience in retail, working in a pharmacy, childcare and as an ambulance driver.

However, it wasn’t her job search that garnered the most attention, it was a picture of her in a slim black bikini with denim shorts that received unwanted attention online.

Users slammed her clothing choice as dressing ‘inappropriately’.

‘If I were looking for work I would NOT post a photo of myself wearing a bikini,’ a second commented.

‘Sorry to say but your photos might send mixed signals regarding what you’re looking for here,’ said a third.

While others voiced their concern for her safety saying, ‘be careful out there’, advising the backpacker to be careful posting those types of pictures.

‘As a female solo traveller myself, I’d be careful with pictures like yours while asking for a job,’ one person wrote.

Ms Swan hit out at the trolls saying she has been flooded with job opportunities since making the post.

‘To anyone saying they wouldn’t give me work because of the photos I have posted, you would equally not be someone I would like to work for,’ she wrote.

‘Just to prove all you jealous people wrong (I say jealous as that’s the only reason that I can think you can be so rude and inconsiderate) I am inundated with job offers in my direct messages and will look through them soon and get back to you all, so thank you all!’

However, Ms Swan did say she had received some unwanted attention saying, ‘To everyone who is adding me on Facebook, I do not accept people who I do not know but you are more than welcome to follow my Instagram.’

Her Instagram account is followed by more than 1300 people and features the picture that caused a stir online, captioned, ‘Turning into an Aussie girl more and more everyday’.
