A new superyacht design imagines a vessel that could take the waters, land and skies by turning into an airship.
The concept of the AirYacht, thought up as an eco-friendly alternative to a conventional superluxe cruiser, would contain no engine and instead be positioned in harbour by tugboats once dropped off.
The innovative design is made up of two modules, which can be separated or united according to use.

The innovative design is made up of two modules, which can be separated or united according to use. The ability to readily transport the craft opens up possibilities for exploration of inland destinations such as lakes, mountains or even deserts
It’s dreamt up to ‘reinvent navigation’, with the 656ft airship designed to do the bulk of the travelling, able to reach heights of 9,842ft and speeds of 50 knots.
A 197ft yacht would also offer 750 square metres of living space featuring a three-storey residence housing six rooms, including an owner’s suite.
The concept too includes all expected glamorous amenities, such as sundecks, jacuzzi, a swimming pool, hammam, and a garage for cars, jet-skis and tenders.

Swiss company AirYacht’s partners Guillaume Hoddé and Matthieu Ozanne – who are experienced engineers – say they have collaborated with designer Franck Darnet for the concept.
Calling for ‘a new space of freedom on Earth’, the company website says: ‘The yachting experience, absolutely everywhere!
‘Sailing the sky, floating above the earth, AirYacht gives wings to one of mankind’s oldest dreams.’
AirShip said: ‘Ten to fifty times less polluting than an equivalent yacht and with one week flight autonomy, its impact on the ecosystem is almost zero’
