Sleep Problems: Look for Health Connections

Introduction-

Being in a condition where your health is not supporting the way you want to rest at night can be very difficult. Because after a tiresome day, the body needs rest, and it requires the time you sleep at night for its betterment. If you sleep as per the schedule and have no disruption while sleeping, you will have better health and energy to work tomorrow. Now, people may not be able to sleep well for various reasons. It can either be the partner who is a heavy snorer, or it can be your health. Health issues like hypertension, stress, anxiety, respiratory problems, and many others are common reasons people cannot sleep well. Besides these, if you have certain diseases like Alzheimer’s or COPD, you may be unable to sleep.

Allergies-

It is quite a common sight for people to be affected by numerous allergies. They may have good food and stay in a clean environment but still suffer from heat allergies, or some food may not be suitable for them. This is quite common and cannot be overlooked. But it is widespread to find the person not knowing of their allergies. For example, a person may be suffering from fruit or vegetable allergies, but they may not know about it, and when they have that food, they will have allergic reactions, which may be rashes or flushing. The Symptoms may become severe, like having severe cough or even respiratory problems. This, if not checked on time, may become fatal. So these will also affect the way people sleep at night. They may be disturbed while coughing or sneezing throughout the nighttime and may not be able to sleep. This disrupted sleep will intern deteriorate their health. For ensuring good sleep, you may use comfortable pillows and modern blankets like duvets. The duvet comes in all the traditional sizes and you can use any size that suits your height and body type. 

Alzheimer’s Illness:

Insomnia and daytime sleeping become increasingly common as the disease progresses. Sleep quality can be improved by sticking to a regular daytime routine and, if necessary, using drugs.

Asthma :

Asthma is one of the significant problems which can hamper your sleep. According to reports, 60 people are having this major problem. In this disease, the air passage changes and causes cough, wheezing, and dyspnea. The asthma medicine theophylline and using the quick-relief inhaler chemical albuterol more frequently than your doctor prescribes can cause sleep issues and nightly awakenings.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia:

Hyperplasia means enlargement of tissue. An enlarged prostate gland affects up to 14 million American men; as a result, over one-third of men over 60 get up two or more times each night to use the bathroom. Consulting doctors and taking medicine can help you to get out of this condition.

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease):

Lung illnesses such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and asthma can cause coughing, chest pain, and difficulty breathing, causing nearly half of the more than 12 million Americans with COPD to have poor sleep quality. The amount of oxygen in your blood may reduce, making you tired during the day. Furthermore, up to 15% of persons with COPD may suffer from sleep apnea. Albuterol and prednisone, two COPD medicines, can cause sleep disturbances.

Congestive Heart Failure:

Congestive heart failure is a complex and progressive disease. When your heart can’t reach adequate blood to your body, that condition is called congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure affects more than five million Americans, weakening the heart’s ability to pump blood and increasing the risk of sleep apnea and sleep-disrupting trembling of the limbs and legs known as periodic limb movements. Heart failure treatments may be necessary, and apnea treatments include a continuous positive airway pressure breathing machine.

Depression And Anxiety:

Depression and anxiety is a principal reason for which you can’t get proper sleep. In this busy world, everyone is running to achieve their goals. But this rat race is causing depression and anxiety. This is solely because of the stress people have to bear in this recent generation. The constant stress leads to a frantic condition for people to run for their goal, leading to disrupted sleep and continuous stress to complete their work on time. Most are not able to maintain a good life for this reason. So it is better to look after oneself to keep away from anxiety. But this may be a sign even to change your lifestyle. As lifestyle also may lead to anxiety when you can’t support the way you live a lavish life. To decrease this and increase comfort, choose weighted and gravity blankets as they help in providing comfortable sleep and relax the body and mind. 

Diabetes:

High blood sugar levels cause your kidneys to release more glucose into your urine, resulting in frequent toilet trips at night. Furthermore, many people with diabetes are overweight, which can increase your risk of sleep apnea. Sleep quality may be affected by pain from diabetes-related nerve damage.

Gastroesophageal Reflux:

According to studies, three out of four persons with heartburn experience nighttime symptoms at least once a week. The unpleasant backwash of stomach acid into the esophagus is exacerbated by lying down. Large meals and alcohol should be avoided before bedtime, and the head of your bed should be raised six inches.

Parkinson’s Disease:

Insomnia, nightmares, acting out dreams while sleeping, sleep apnea, and falling asleep unexpectedly throughout the day are sleep issues that persons with Parkinson’s disease may face. Medications may assist, though some Parkinson’s disease medications can cause sleeplessness, so your doctor may advise you to take them earlier in the day.

As these diseases may harm your body and disrupt a good night’s sleep, be attentive towards the symptoms and take care of your health so that your sleep isn’t disrupted.
